The politically correct acronym for ASEAN is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations; however, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has just given it a new name: (A - Adventure, S - Spa & Health, E - Elegant Culture, A - Amazing Food, N - Nature & Beach).
This new theme is to be the subject of the latest writing/blogging competition to be launched by TAT to promote travel in Thailand and its partner countries of ASEAN (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR., Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Viet Nam).
According to Mrs Juthaporn Rerngronasa, Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and America), “TAT expects that intra-ASEAN travel will be one of the primary beneficiaries of the ASEAN community. This campaign is targeted at the emerging generation of young ‘ASEANites’ so that they may better appreciate our shared culture, cuisine and heritage of the 10 countries. We hope it will get a good response.”
Thailand has lots of amazing tourist attractions, cultural spots as well as natural beauty; such as, mountains, forests and beaches. These assets are all conducive to the promotion of travel for Adventure, Spa and Health, Elegant Culture, Amazing Food, and Nature and Beach.
In order to better publicise these assets, TAT is inviting all tourists as well as writers, photographers, and bloggers from the ASEAN countries to participate in the competition to share their experiences in one or more of the “ASEAN” travel components.
The campaign will run from September - November 2015. Here is how it will operate:
First Round: Qualifying round from hashtag #GoThailandGoASEAN.
Contestants in all the ASEAN countries can share pictures or videos about tourism in ASEAN on Social Media via Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Socialcam, Twitter, Google+ with Hashtag #GoThailandGoASEAN or #GoThailand #GoASEAN
Deadline for submission: 15 September, 2015 J
udgment: 3 prizes (1 prize covers 2 persons)
Announcement of the Qualifying Round: 22 September, 2015, on www.tourismthailand.org/aec
Second round: “Champions #GoThailandGoASEAN”
The winners from the Qualifying Round will be invited to visit Thailand to create their own blogs, articles, pictures and videos, and share them via the same Social media. The trips will be undertaken between 28 September - 2 October, 2015, as per the following “ASEAN” itinerary:
A - Adventure: Mission of Adventure in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
S - Spa & Health: Mission of relaxation in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
E - Elegant Culture: Mission of tradition and history in Bangkok.
A - Amazing Food: Mission of Thailand’s kitchen of ASEAN in Bangkok.
N - Nature & Beach: Mission of Ko Talu, the pearl of the Gulf of Thailand in
Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The competitive entries will be publicised 12 October - 12 November, 2015. The most popular “Likes” and “Shares” will be declared winners as “Champions #GoThailandGoAsean” on 19 November, 2015. They will be presented with the following prizes:
1st prize: Cash award of 30,000 Baht, Shirt of “Champions #GoThailandGoASEAN” and Trophy.
2nd prize: Cash award of 20,000 Baht, Shirt of “Champions #GoThailandGoASEAN” and Trophy.
3rd prize: Cash award of 10,000 Baht, Shirt of “Champions #GoThailandGoASEAN” and Trophy.
They will also be declared as “The Best Traveller of ASEAN”.
