Recently at Central Festival Beach Shopping Center, Pattaya Beach Chairwoman, Mrs. Vilaiwan Twichsri, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business of TAT, opens the Thai Food Festival which featured many popular activities such as performance by T-Silp from Thailand Got Talent, celebrity and chef contest
Mrs. Vilaiwan Twichsri, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business of TAT,emphasized that objective for hosting this Thai Food Festival is to sustain, preserve and promote Thai culture. This festival will also act as an incentive to promote tourism throughout all parts of Thailand in order to generate more income to the economy. TAT realized the uniqueness of Thai food, which is more than just a meal. Thai food is a collection of knowledge, passed on from one generation to the next. Thai food is now recognized as one of the best feature of Thailand, illustrated by the top 10 ranking of the vote on CNNGO and various Social Media. TAT wanted to showcase Thai food as we host the 5th annual Thai Food Festival since 2010. Each year, the feedback after each festival is outstanding and each year we featured different part of Thai food to the world. This year, the festival is under the concept “Herbs and Spices … Thai Taste.”
Mrs. Vilaiwan also said, “The highlight of this festival for TAT is the collection of 40+ restaurants, each popular by its own menu and recipes, in one location. These restaurants used various Thai ingredients, each with its own uniqueness in taste, and the menu also are healthy for the body. These ingredients are so valuable that they are recognized by the medical field as well. Thai herbs and spices are carefully selected and used in order to create a menu such Moo-Tod by Royal recipe from Ran Moo-Tod Chaow Wang, Pad Thai Shrimp with Egg from Pad Thai Savoy, Mee Krob Boran (crispy noodle) from Mee Krob Khun Ya Thong Poon, Herbs Salad from Khun Thong restaurant, colorful herb juices from Dream Water Store and etc.”
In addition, there are other fun activities for visitors to participate such as, concert, chef demo from 3 celebrity Chefs, Chef Oak –Christian Johann from Johann bistro, Chef Kan-Thanaporn Markawan from The Local by Oam Thong Thai Cuisine, and Chef Book-Boonsmith Pukkasuth from Book restaurants and show host of Foodwork from Thai PBS channel. Visitors can also meet with celebrities within the festival such as, Jack the comedian star from the movie Fan Chun, Chompoo the comedian star from the famous show, Koh Bai, and DJ Tonhom. Everyone can participate in various games that will encourage you to learn more about Thai herbs and win the prizes.
TAT believes in this Thai Food Festival will attract visitors from both the local and international, to take part in this great festival. In retune, it is a great way to help boost our local economy in addition to the branding of tourism in Thailand. Last, it also help brand Thailand as the World Destination for food as well.
